Event Description

Welcome to the 3rd Annual Burns Dinner hosted by The Mucky Duck Pub LLC. in Ames, Iowa!

Burns Dinners have been a staple of Scottish culture around the world since the death of the "Ploughman's Poet" - celebrating his life and works every year with a full program of Bagpipes, men and ladies alike in tartan, poetry, Scotch, a Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee), and of course...Haggis!

What sets this event apart?

1. The host, Marcus Johnson is owner of The Mucky Duck Pub and Ames British Foods. Originally from Sussex, England, he recently became an American citizen. Marcus is driven to bring the best of UK culture to our doorstep!

2. For the second year, Maestro Paul Macdonald joins us direct from Edinburgh Scotland. His performance for the Address to the Haggis is second to none. You don't want to miss it! (He is also the instructor for the Midwest Highland Intensive workshop being held the same weekend. Look below for further information.)

3. The event coordinator, April Roy, has earned a University of Glasgow certification on Robert Burns. She has designed and directed many types of events, small and grand...this is a favorite.

There is a block of rooms secured at the Radisson Hotel/Conference Center in Ames for the weekend (Friday & Saturday night). If you call to the hotel directly, indicate the Burns Dinner block with your reservation. The rate of $102.00 per night (+ tax) is guaranteed until 6 January 2019.
